For the coming Youth Olympics Games that’s to be held in our island nation, we’re proud to introduce one of the participating countries, FIJI ISLANDS.

The majority of Fiji is mountainous (volcanic in origin) with several peaks exceeding 3000ft. The balance of the smaller islands is a mixture of coral and limestone with barrier reefs ringing most of the islands.

 

FLAG OF FIJI

 

The current flag of Fiji was officially adopted on 10 October 1970.

 

The Union Jack (at the upper left) is representative of the country’s long association with Great Britain. The flag’s blue field is symbolic of the surrounding Pacific Ocean. The coat of arms display a golden British lion holding a coconut as well as panels displaying a palm tree, sugar cane, bananas and dove of peace.
